Last July, one of my colleagues convenced me to join him playing golf at the Jupiter Island Club course. I had not played for what I would guess is close to 15 years. I still had my Ping Eye2 irons and Taylor Made Driver, 3 and 5 woods. My Driver was as small as the modern day hybrids. Needless to say my score was in the 130+ range.
Other than my score, it was a great day! I went from the course to the closest Edwin Watts store to upgrade my clubs. The drivers were first up to upgrade. After a few swings, I selected the Ping G15 driver over the Taylor Made Burner driver. I then added the G15 4 wood and a hybrid to replace my ancient selection of woods. After a few more times at the course I added the G15 irons and wedges to the mix and I felt like I was all set.
Clubs after the first month included:
G15 Driver 10.5* w/stock stiff shaft
G15 4 Wood w/Serano stiff shaft
G15 Hybrid with stock stiff shaft
G15 4-L Wedge with Ping AWT stiff shafts
Rife 460 Putter
A year later, I am a 15 handicap and am starting to shoot scores in the low 80′s.
Current clubs include;
K15 – 9.5* Driver w/BlueBoard 63 stiff shaft
XCG4 – 13* Wood w/Motore 65 stiff shaft
XCG4 – 17* Hybrid w/Motore stiff
XCG3 – 21* Hybrid w/Motore
XCG3- 24* Hybrid w/Motore
800 Pro Muzino Irons (6-G wedge) w/DG S300s
Ping Tour S – 52,56 and 60* wedges w/DGS300s

In the coming posts I will recount some of my memories of the past year, I have played 27 different courses, researched the local country clubs and joined Jupiter Country Club, taken lessons at GolfTec and worked with a number of instructors, experimented with a variety of clubs and had the good fortune to meet great people involved with Golf.
